Mettaford Holiday Cottages

Heron is a comfortable family home for your holiday. It's a single storey cottage with 4 broad steps on access. Heron has 3 bedrooms: a double with ensuite shower room (cot only fits in this room when all other rooms are fully occupied) and a bunk room adjacent.
The twin bedroom plus additional shower room are at the other end of the cottage.


This is a great cottage for 3 generations, or for larger families. The living room and kitchen are linked. The kitchen is equipped with Electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and usual utensils and pots.

There is ample space for 6 people, in the lounge which had DVD and TV. A door leads onto a patio and a large lawn which faces south: there's plenty of space for running around and letting off steam!

Power is included and there is full use of all on-site facilities.
There is night-storage heating and electric heaters in all rooms, so the cottage is cosy for cooler nights.

Heron has a bright sunny living room with French doors opening onto a south facing patio and large lawned garden. It has DVD and TV. Power is included. Laundry facilities are separate and shared (coin meter).

This lovely cottage has full ground floor facilities, so may suit guests with limited mobility.
There’s a double bedroom, full shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs, Cormorant has a full bathroom and twin bed room.
It's deceptively spacious inside from its' cottagey exterior appearance.
The kitchen/living room has access to patio via French doors, with a sunny, south facing garden, beyond. There's a large lawn for running around on or lounging in the sun.

A gas stove and Night storage heating in the Lounge, and electric heaters in all rooms and double glazing soon make this a cosy cottage in spring and autumn.
There's a DVD/video and TV in the cottage, to complement the full-specification kitchen.

Power is included. Beds are made up on arrival.

Cormorant works well as a holiday home for two couples or for Mum, Dad and older children who like having their own bathrooms!

Cormorant shares all the other onsite facilities.

With beamed double and twin bedrooms and upstairs bathroom, this cottage has real character; one stay and you are hooked!. Curlew is a private cottage at the end of a group of 3, but it's just as convenient for all our facilities..

A cot will fit comfortably into the double bedroom, and twin room. A large living room with TV and DVD, opens onto a quiet garden and patio with stunning views across the fields.

Curlew nestles quietly within our beautiful gardens and you can appreciate the diverse Devon wildlife from its' windows.

It has a full kitchen with gas cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer, and comfortably accommodates 4 people.

A night storage heater and feature stove with electric fan in the Lounge, electric heaters in all the rooms are ideal for cooler days in Spring and Autumn.

The bath has a hand-held shower attachment.
Power is included. Beds are ready for your arrival.

Laundry is shared (coin meter).

On first impressions Kestrel cottage looks conventional but has external access steps to the first floor entrance.
It has a full kitchen with gas cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer, and can seat 5 in its' sunny kitchen/diner.

When it's time for bed..you go downstairs.. and here are double and twin bedrooms with an optional third bed (full size pull-out) in the twin room. The bathroom is on the lower floor. The bath has a hand-held shower attachment.

There's a night storage heater, and electric heaters in all rooms, and the cottage is fully double-glazed, so Spring and Autumn holidays are definitely an option!

The cottage sleeps 4+1.

The lounge/diner is on the first floor and looks out over the local countryside. It has TV and DVD player.
Power is included and there's access to all on-site facilities. We make up the beds ready for your arrival.

Kestrel has its' own garden and patio looking out over the views.

Please note: the external steps may be difficult for young children or people with mobility difficulties.

Kingfisher is an upside-down, mid terrace cottage with ground floor entrance leading to a hallway, with twin bedroom, double bedroom and full bathroom (with hand-held shower attachment) on the ground floor.
Popular with families and couples, Kingfisher is a special cottage, and has lots of our guests returning to enjoy its' comforts.

Upstairs is a roomy kitchen/living room, with gas cooker, microwave and fridge, the living space has a TV and DVD player. There's a fireplace with feature electric stove.

It has its' own patio and lawned garden, under a flowering cherry tree.

There's a night storage heater, and electric heaters through-out the cottage for cooler nights in Spring and Autumn.
Power is included. Beds are ready made for your arrival.

Use of shared laundry facilities and Games room on site.

A peaceful and private cottage with triple-aspect living room giving beautiful far-reaching views to the countryside in north, east and south.

It has a quiet patio with table and chairs and BBQ. It has a fully equipped kitchen/diner with gas cooker, microwave, etc.

There is a spacious double bedroom (made up for your arrival) and full bathroom with over-bath shower.

Buzzard is an ideal and popular retreat for couples, we have many happy guests returning year on year and through-out the season!

Buzzard is fully double-glazed and has a stove-effect gas fire for cooler nights. There are electric heaters in all rooms and a night-storage heater in the living room.

You have use of all our facilities: Pool, laundry, etc and can enjoy your own special view of our wild life and the star-shows at night.

Puffin is a 'perky' cottage with a combined kitchen (gas cooker), with full specification kitchen, diner and living room.
It has DVD and TV.
Upstairs is a double bedroom, full bathroom (with hand-held shower attachment) and twin bedroom (2' 6" beds). However, if you want a cot, this takes one single bed space in the Twin room.

It is a bright and sunny cottage with patio and lawned garden facing west but benefitting from sun from midday onwards.

In Spring and Autumn there's heating from a Night Storage heater and there is electric heating available in all rooms.
Puffin is fully double-glazed.

Puffin is ideal for a smaller family and, is a great alternative to Buzzard, for couples.
Power is included, as is access to all facilities on site. Plus the beds are made up for your arrival.

Watch for deals through May, June and September for couples.

NB we do not allow a pet in this cottage.

Mallard is a conventional style semi-detached cottage, with full specification kitchen: electric oven, microwave and fridge-freezer; and dining area. There's plenty of space with the living room down one step, which comfortably seats 5. There is a TV and DVD, and bookcase full of books to read and exchange.

The cottage has a double bedroom with full ensuite bathroom (with hand-held shower attachment), and a triple room with full bathroom on the first floor. This is great for families with teens, who get their own facilities.

The garden and patio face the sun all day, so are a real sun-trap.

In the Lounge there is a feature electic fire and night storage heater, and there's electric heating in all the bedrooms.
Mallard is fully double-glazed, great for Spring & Autumn holidays.

The cottage has power included and access to all on-site facilities. We make up beds for your arrival.

Hartland Camping Barn is a sympathetically restored barn, which has full kitchen, including gas hobs, cooker,fridge, freezer, crockery and cutlery. Your stay will be 'bed' only: breakfast is not provided.

This is 'hostel' style accommodation, so you will be sharing the facilities in the Barn with other guests. Hartland Camping Barn is high quality, low budget accommodation with shared kitchen, showers, WCs and laundry facilities.

'Parlour' on the ground floor, has mattress-sleeping for 5 people. This is a large, carpetted room with a South facing window.
On-line price applies for exclusive use of 'Parlour' for upto 5 people, however Parlour is available for independent travellers: (prices per bed space per night are available through the owner =44 (0)1237 441249).

Parlour may then be shared with other guests travelling on a 'bed space' basis.
We do not supply bed linen or towels. Guests must bring sleeping bags, pillows and towels, although travellers without transport can hire these items @£5.

It is possible to hire 'Parlour' together with 'Eaves' and 'Loft' as group accommodation, or to hire a combination of two, or all three areas to sleep a total of 15 people. Discounted prices are available through the owner.

No dogs

Shared use of our other on-site facilities is included.

Eaves is a first floor room with sleeping mattresses for 5 people. It features Lime-washed walls and is very 'curvacious! A bright light room with views across the countryside.

Eaves is bookable by night, or by week, and you will have exclusive use of the room. Your stay will be 'bed' only: breakfast is not provided.

Hartland Camping Barn has been re-furbished with cob & slate, to a high specification. There's a full kitchen with gas hobs, oven, fridge,freezer etc

This and all other facilities within the Barn are shared and include showers, WCs. This is similar to 'hostel'-style accommodation; so you may be sharing the Barn with other groups and independent travellers. We do not supply bed linen or towels. Guests must bring sleeping bags, pillows and towels.

No dogs.

There is access to other on-site facilities including pool, games room and laundry.

Group rates also available, including hire of 2 sleeping rooms and complete barn (3 rooms).

Loft is a first floor lime-washed room with velux windows, so is bright and airy. It has sleeping mattresses for 5 people, and is bookable by night or week. You will have exclusive use of Loft but will share all other facilities within Hartland Camping Barn, these include kitchen/dining/sitting room, showers, WCs.

No dogs

This is similar to 'hostel'-type accommodation. Bed linen and towels are not supplied. Guests must bring sleeping bags, pillows and towels. Your stay will be 'bed' only: breakfast is not provided.


The sports facilities and laundry facilities are shared with other users of the site.
