about mettaford farm
Mettaford has been our family home for 12 years, we have a vibrant feel for the area and as a result, a very good idea of how to make your holiday memorable: whether using the beaches, walking the coast path, shopping or exploring. The quality of light makes this a fantastic area for painting and photography.
We 'live the life', but North Devon still en-trances and brings us great pleasure: Wildlife is abundant by day and dusk. On a clear night the stars are breathtaking! Hartland Quay is definitely the best place to be for the 'light show' at sunset. We live and play with the seasons and know the area closely.
Our regular guests visit us for the peace and tranquillity, the wide variety of experiences locally, the excellent family facilities on site, the friendliness of the local people, and the opportunity to relax and enjoy the area.
The beaches and roads are quieter in the Autumn and Spring, so if a brisk walk on the beach is appealing, this is an ideal time to visit us! The boutique shops at Barnstaple, Bideford and Bude are interesting for shopping, and Galleries at Appledore and Instow, and Sculpture Garden at Broomhill are also good spots for visits, if you are a culture seeker.
Barnstaple and Bideford Pannier markets offer regular opportunities to buy local, as does our own Hartland Farmers Market every 1st Sunday in the month.
There's Dartington Glass and Springfield Pottery locally, for those with Crafts and Interior design in mind.
Whether you are looking for a short break, a week or longer, we are happy to talk with you about how best to enjoy our facilities and beautiful North Devon and Cornwall.
If you go geo-caching, there are lots of sites in the Torridge area to add to your experience of North Devon. Recent visitors have told us about some awesome sea-cliff climbs locally: so if this is your interest, check it out.
Visit other pages on our site to find out about the area and the diverse opportunities there are to give you a memorable holiday!
