Welcome to Mettaford Farm Holiday Cottages. Our 3* Self-catering Cottages are situated in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Devon and on-site we've lots of facilities: Indoor Pool, Sauna, Games Room, 6 hole Golf Course, Games Lawns, Wi Fi access.
It's a great time to come back to a Great British Holiday...our cottages are great value and here on the Devon/Cornwall border we have convenient transport links. Even in the school holidays the roads here remain free-running, and the beaches are accessible. Whenever you need to head away from the rush and noise of normal life, the peaceful, open countryside of the Hartland Peninsula, North Devon is particularly welcoming.
The cottages (power included) are: Buzzard: sleeps 2 , Heron: sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms + our six other 2 bedroomed cottages sleep 4 or 5 people. If you visit the 'cottages' page you'll find more details about our well-equipped cottage options. We are always happy to talk with you about multi-cottage bookings, and we can always find the way to ensure Mettaford is the right choice for your family holiday.
Hartland village is 1.5 miles and Clovelly is 2.5 miles. We are close to the South West Coast Path between Bude and Bideford. Good surfing and Body boarding around the coast.
Our cottages are ideally placed for exploring the area and the spectacular coastal scenery from the South West Coast Path, with its' rocky coves and cliff waterfalls, especially Speke's waterfall and beautiful beaches.
We are reliably informed that the sea cliffs locally are challenging for the most competent climbers, but there's easy and direct assess for the Blue Flag beaches at Bude and Westward Ho! renown for their cleanliness and safety (RNLI lifeguarded). The Cornish border (Marsland Mouth) at Morwenstow is on the Coast Path to Bude. Another stop on the way, is Welcombe beach, which is easier to get to by walking than car! Northcott Mouth is a hidden gem. There are many places of interest and tourist attractions nearby.
On-site Facilities (at no extra cost):
We've a Heated indoor Swimming pool and Sauna; Games Room with Table Tennis, Pool Table and Darts. (The Games Room can also be used for family events, particularly if you book as a large group).
If you've still got energy, we have Seasonal Croquet, Short Tennis and Badminton lawns; as well as Seasonal 6 Hole fun Golf (for serious or family fun: which is ideal for you to practise or learn as no rules or regs. apply!). There's lots of space for frisbees and football out on the golf course, too! We have a small Playground for younger children, with swing and climbing frame and small playhouse.
Get your wellies out and explore our Streamside Nature walk, and stroll to a deep Devon 'green lane' with miles of country lanes beyond. Dream or draw inspiration by our wildlife ponds (set away from main accommodation). Or spend time at night watching the stars from the garden, or listen to the Tawny Owls squeaking. You can do all this from your cottage garden. If a BBQ and wine on the patio isn't relaxing you enough, ask us about a trip to Hartland village (we have a 6-seater car + driver for short trips: to coast path, pub, etc.) There's WiFi connectivity in all cottages. For the necessary chores: the well-equipped Laundry (metered) has 2 washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing board.
