It's a fantastic time to visit Mettaford and enjoy a traditional great British Holiday . Holidaying in our cottages is superb value. Explore the stunning scenery of this area of Devon, slip across the Cornish border on rural bus services: or drive on country by-ways or free-running A-roads. Whenever you need to head away from the rush and noise of normal life, the peaceful, open countryside of the Hartland Peninsula, North Devon is particularly welcoming.

Our traditional cottages aren't flashy or fussy: just clean & comfortable, and well-equipped. We have WiFi access and Digital TVs to keep you up-to-date.We don't 'farm' so all our effort goes into making this a relaxing base for your holiday. We are always happy to talk with you about multi-cottage bookings, and we can always find the way to ensure Mettaford is the right choice for your family holiday.
Hartland village is 1.5 miles and Clovelly is 2.5 miles. We are close to the South West Coast Path between Bude and Bideford. Good surfing and Body boarding around the coast.
Mettaford holiday cottages are ideally placed for exploring the area and the spectacular coastal scenery from the South West Coast Path, with its' rocky coves and cliff waterfalls, especially Speke's waterfall and beautiful beaches. Unspoilt North Devon & Cornwall have beaches for all types of interest and holiday, there's easy and direct assess for the Blue Flag beaches at Bude and Westward Ho! renown for their cleanliness and safety (RNLI lifeguarded). So the only effort required is to pick a spot on the sand! There are rural beaches, rocky beaches and estuary beaches, all within 20 minutes drive.
The Cornish border (Marsland Mouth) at Morwenstow is on the Coast Path to Bude. Another stop on the way, is Welcombe beach, which is easier to get to by walking than car! A stroll to Stanbury Mouth combines a sense of adventure and beautiful views as a reward. Bucks Mills on the north coast has a different aspect and views of Bideford Bay. There are many places of interest and tourist attractions near to us at Mettaford.

If you've still got energy, we have seasonal *Croquet, *Short Tennis and *Badminton lawns; as well as Seasonal *6 Hole fun Golf (for serious or family fun: which is ideal for you to practise or learn as no rules or regs. apply!). There's lots of space for frisbees and football out on the golf course, too! We have a small *Playground for younger children, with *swing and *climbing frame and *small playhouse.
Get your wellies out and explore our streamside Nature walk, and stroll to a deep Devon 'green lane' with miles of country lanes beyond. Dream or draw inspiration by our wildlife ponds (set away from main accommodation). Or spend time at night watching the stars from the garden, or listen to the Tawny Owls squeaking. You can do all this from your cottage garden. If a BBQ and wine on the patio isn't relaxing you enough, ask us about a trip to Hartland village (we have a 6-seater car + driver for short trips: to coast path, pub, etc.)
There's WiFi connectivity and Digital TV & Radio reception in all cottages. For the necessary chores: the well-equipped Laundry (metered) has 2 washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing board. Cots, High chairs & stairgates are also available.
